Wellness Tech

It’s time to rise. It’s time to shine!
It’s another day to slay…
When I woke up this morning I got a text message that read, "Another Day, Another Slay", encouraging me to kick butt today. Gosh I needed that! As an entrepreneur, I am sometimes hard on myself for not being where I think I should be. Or... if I have a tough day, I contemplate going back to Corporate America (Please God No!). But every morning, without fail, I get a text urging me on and encouraging me to stay on task. These messages don't come from my best friend or from my family. They come from the motivation App SHINE! OMG! It is the motivational app that you never knew that you needed.
The Co-founders +Co-CEOs of Shine, Naomi Hirabayashi and Marah Lidey are determined to reinvent health and wellness for POC Millennials through messaging technology. Shine just announced $2.5 million in seed funding and has surpassed over half a million users in its first year. Don’t stress. Be blessed and download the App today!
I don’t just want to be well. I want to be Fie’…
Black Girls In “Om” aims to bring black voices to the world of yoga.
Black Girls in Om Founder Lauren Ash is bringing blackness into the yoga world with a vengeance. Because black girls don’t just “om”, we “ahem”. We command attention. Our flare, our magic and our trauma is unique. Just like advertising icon Tom Burrell said to clients back in the day…”Black people are not dark skinned White people. We have different needs”. So when Lauren Ash began her personal yoga practice that would eventually become Black Girl In Om, a virtual and real-life wellness community that caters exclusively to Black women, she did so with that sentiment in mind. Lauren wanted to carve her own path and shake things up within the wellness space. And she has done exactly that. Check out her flow so you can get back into your Black Girl Magician zone.
If you hate networking as much as I do then work the net…
Networking for introverts…check!
If you are anything like me (an introvert) you hate networking! It seems like such a pretentious way to get people to invest in you and/or your business. I knoooowww...it's a necessary evil! However, knowing this fact doesn’t change my "stank" attitude when I have to put on a perfectly good outfit to go to a dinner party and sit at a table with strangers "willing them" to find my work interesting. And now that we are coming out of lock down I feel the need to get back in the game. Well, the Shapr Networking App has answered my prayers.
Here is how it works:
Each day, Shapr curates a list of 10-15 relevant professionals in my area, based on an formula that accounts for my personal and professional interests, job title and location. My best matches are delivered straight to my phone where I can swipe easily and anonymously (Tinder style) in less than a minute. And, of course, if there’s a match, I can start talking right away. Thank you Networking Gods! Thank You!
