True Story

I worked on the Champion Brand pitch with BBDO-Chicago a couple of years ago. Well, "worked on" is pretty generous. I wasn't chosen to pitch because I am a girl (my opinion). So I created a killer campaign (TV, Social, Activations, etc.), Copy-Wrote it, Art-Directed it, and snuck it onto the pitch wall without my name on it. The then CCO took a photo of the campaign, sent it to the entire agency with the subject line, "whose work is this?" I panicked. I thought I was going to be fired. I went to his office, but he wasn't there. He was at the pitch wall. So I sent him a private email and asked, "am I in trouble?" He responded, "just the opposite." When I walked around the corner, all the executive creative teams started to applaud. Seriously..until they saw me. Adoration turned to shock. The current CCOs asked, "This is the best campaign on the wall; you did this?" In the end...the agency didn't pitch it. They said it was too late in the process to include. Needless to say I decided to move on because I think the best work should always be presented. I now work for the #1 health and wellness ad agency in the world. However, I still think the campaign is groundbreaking and will position Champion as the premium streetwear brand it was meant to be.

In the midst of frenzied excitement, they swallow adrenaline whole. They live fiercely, rejoicing in the battle, charging into the fray. They laugh in the face of struggle, afraid of nothing when the buzzer sounds. Instead of fear, they cloak themselves in audacity, refusing to shy away from the fight. When the going gets tough and knocks them down, the quiver of victory rallies them. And despite being battered and bruised, tired and worn… they get up. They are compelled to rise. Because they know that a champion is not a person. To be a champion is a calling. And the worthy… always answer the call. Champion. Be Worthy
